Adidas is a German sportswear brand founded in 1924 by Adolf Dassler, however, it was registered as a company in 1949. The name of the company is derived from the founder’s name; ‘Adi’ (from Adolf) and ‘Das’ (from Dassler). The company logo features 3 diagonal parallel bars forming the shape of a triangle; this logo (or a variation of it, in the form of 3 parallel bars incorporated into the design) is featured on most, if not all of the shoes and clothes produced under the brand name. The brand name also features a lot on the clothing.

To date, the Adidas brand contains a wide range of sportswear, from clothing and footwear to sporting equipment including footballs, tennis racquets, and equipment for several other sports including golf, cricket and even lacrosse. The clothing line, up to now, contains a huge variety of garments which include; Jackets, Pants, Skirts, Tights, Shirts, Dresses, Shorts, Sweatshirts, Underwear, Swimwear and Tracksuits.

They also sell specialist items such as football shirts and ‘Techfit’ garments. In 2006, Adidas acquired the company Reebok, which has made the company, which was already one of the leading sportswear brands, even stronger and at the forefront of the sportswear market.

Adidas Y-3 Clothing And Footwear

Yohji Yamamoto has been an influential fashion designer since he debuted in Paris in 1981. Adidas has been an influential sportswear brand since it’s conception in 1949. Although not an entirely obvious route for either company, they worked with eah other to create the brand Adidas Y3, the name of this brand coming from the ‘Y’ of Yamamoto’s name and the 3 recognisable stripes of the Adidas brand.

A surprising twist with this brand, that Adidas rarely do (and wouldn’t usually be expected to do), was that Adidas took a backseat and allowed Yamamoto to have a free reign in the design of the range. This free reign led to Yamamoto creating a range which incorporated the 3 stripe logo into the designs of the clothing, footwear and accessories in the range.

The freedom that Yamamoto was given was phenomenal. All the designs were created from scratch rather than in the previous collaborations that Adidas had experienced in which existing designs were altered for the new range. Y3 is a completely unique collaboration in terms of what Adidas were used to, and the fresh ideas from Yamamoto were exactly what the brand needed. Adidas Y3 is a brand born from the fusion of a top sportswear brand with the mind of a top Japanese designer.

Alexander McQueen started designing at a very early age, starting out creating dresses for his sisters which was when he first decided to become a fashion designer. Years later, he made his break as a fashion designer. His early work was seen as very controversial and his runway lines are still known for being unconventional.

Now, his company had stores in various cities worldwide; including London, New York, Las Vegas and Milan. The collection incorporates bright colours, bold prints and unusual cuts and designs. The shapes of some of the garments can really only be described as unusual and the brand is definitely not for everyone. The clothing line contains, t shirts, dresses, tops, knitwear, jackets, skirts and trousers.

While the clothing available online is a more toned down version of his catwalk looks, the clothing still maintains it’s rebellious, unconventional look, which it’s designer strives for. He wants to make a difference to the world of fashion, create something unique that no one else has thought to do before, and, above all, shock people.

Alexander McQueen is a visionary in the world of fashion, a designer who has had his share of ups and downs and come out after it all as one of the leading British fashion designers.
